Insider Keeps Cuban Outsider?

Mark Cuban charged with insider trading. Will that hurt his attempt to buy the Cubs? Thanks to Bob Tufts for the link.

There was never the slightest chance the Lords of Baseball were going to let Cuban own the Cubs anyway...although it would've been fun if they had.

He is done, rip up the offer. As john notes, the purchase was never gonna happen unless he blew other bidders out of the water and Zell threatened to take MLB to court. A highly unlikely course of events, now let's see if this mouthy clownass can get himself tossed into the can.

I think the term is assclown

Don't know the specifics, but Cuban isn't going to jail in any case. It's a civil suit seeking retitution, not a criminal indictment threatening jail time.

HAH! If this stops Cuban from owning the Cubs, then MLB isthe biggest bunch of hypocrites the world has ever seen. I hope Zell takes em to court. It'll be no contest.

"It'll be no contest."

Why? It is a private club, the commish and owners have wide latitude to decide who can buy a team. Cuban would have to be very high for it to be worth Zell's while, as it would take years to adjudicate and he may well lose. All the while he'd be in limbo, holding on to a potentially depreciating asset.

I know, why don't some of these "new money" guys pool their efforts and create a new league! That's the way it used to be done when the American entrepreneurial spirit was still alive and well. In the face of closed circuits and seeming monopolies a once upon a time American would compete, and not snivel and complain they couldn't get inclusion. It falls right in line with the history of baseball itself, if you know anything at all about baseball that is. Maybe they can entice some of the present MLB teams of joining them if they're sick and tired of being second class citizens next to the Yankee$$$ etc..etc..etc..

.............just like they used to do. Look it up.

I volunteer for the position of commish!
