The judge hearing the Barry Bonds perjury trial wants the sides to settle:
U.S. District Judge Susan Illston made the request during a hearing Friday and prosecutors said they would discuss a plea agreement with Bonds’ lawyers. But an attorney representing the home run king tells The New York Times and other media outlets he believes the case will go to trial.
At least someone is trying to save the taxpayers some money in this case. Perjury is a tough charge to prove, so I can see why Bonds is willing to go to trial. Why settle when there is a good chance Barry is acquitted?
