Saving a Division Race

The White Sox defeated the Tigers 5-1 , keeping the AL Central race close. With the Twins breaking the Angels winning streak, the White Sox trail the Tigers by two and the Twins trail by four. A Tigers win last night would put them in a commanding position for the rest of the race.

Paul Konerko doubled and homered to bring his slugging percentage over .500. He hasn’t finished a season at that level since 2006. After a really disappointing power year for him in 2008, his bounce back is one reason the White Sox are staying in the race.
