Suspend Morton

Charlie Morton hitting Pete Alonso sure seems like retaliation for Alonso taunting Bryce Elder Tuesday night. The Mets slugger hit a home run and shouted, “Throw it again!” at Elder. Elder handled it well, but intentionally hitting a player at any time, especially when it causes an injury, should carry a long suspension.

There’s a reason sportsmanship codes came into existence.

Did you watch the at-bat? I do not agree that it looked intentional. It was several pitches into the at-bat and Morton’s reaction to Alonso getting hit/going down didn’t seem like he was trying to hit him. Plus Morton is typically up there in number of hit batters every year because of the movement of his pitches.
