Best Batter Today

Aaron Judge of the Yankees does not play Sunday night due to an injury sustained running into and breaking a fence in the outfield on Saturday. He still manages to come out on top in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings as an 0 for 4 by Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers drops Freeman into second place.

A mere 0.43 points separates third, fourth, and fifth place in the standings. Juan Soto of the Padres occupies third place as he drew a walk in a 7-1 Cubs victory. Alex Bregman of the Astros and his teammate Yordan Alvarez stand fourth and fifth respectively. Bregman singled twice and Alvarez drew a walk in a 2-1 Angels victory.

The best game score of the day belongs to Drew Ellis of the Phillies. The third baseman exploded from the ninth slot for a three for three day with two walks, two of those hits home runs. That was good for a game score of 86. They were his first home runs since 2021. He came into the game a .141 career hitter, but with a .275 OBP as he collected as many walks as hits. He’s one ahead in hits now.
