Best Batter Today

The top two players in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings, Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers and Aaron Judge of the Yankees, took the day off with their teams. They go head-to-head tonight in Los Angeles.

Juan Soto of the Padres did play and posts a rare bad game as he went 0 for 3 with three Ks in a 10-1 win over the Marlins. San Diego was fairly efficient in the game, sending just 41 men to the plate to score the ten runs. They went six for 14 with men in scoring position. Soto’s teammate, Fernando Tatis Jr.post a game score of 76, the highest on the day. He collected three doubles and a walk in five trips to the plate.

Yordan Alvarez of the Astros finds himself in fourth place after drawing a walk in a 5-2 win over the Angels. Bo Bichette of the Blue Jays move ahead of the idle Yandy Diaz of the Rays in the battle for fifth place. Bichette homered in a 3-1 win over Milwaukee.
