Pitcher Andrew Heaney reportedly reached a deal with the Texas Rangers. The deal guarantees Heaney $25 million for two years. He also can earn more with incentives or opt-out after a season:

Heaney, 31, rebuilt his value on a star-studded Los Angeles Dodgers team last season, thanks in large part to the development of a slider. The left-hander accumulated only 72? innings, but he posted a 3.10 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP while striking out a career-high 13.6 batters per nine innings.

The Dodgers spent the better part of the last decade finding the exploiting the strengths of players others let go. Heaney gets a very nice pay day due to that eye for talent.

The Rangers rotation looks much stronger with Jacob deGrom and Heaney at the top. Rangers starting pitcher finished near the bottom of the majors in average game score. That was mostly due to a lack of in game depth, only averaging 14.7 outs per start.
