Astros Singles

Chas McCormick and Jose Altuve each single to start the top of the fifth inning. That gives the Astros an early inning threat with men on first and second, no out, and the heart of the order due up. Houston and Philadelphia are knotted at zero.

Update: Jeremy Pena makes a poor bunt attempt with one strike to take off the sacrifice. However, he hits a 2-2 pitch, a hard line drive to left that loads the bases. That’s it for Aaron Nola, who gave up seven hits in four+ innings.

Update: Jose Alvarado comes on to pitch for the Phillies.

Update: Alvardo hits Yordan Alvarez with his first pitch, and Houston leads 1-0. He only hit one batter in 59 innings during the regular season.

Update: Alex Bregman doubles on a high line drive to right toward the line. The outfielders were shifted to the pull side. Two runs score, and the Astros lead the Phillies 3-0.

Update: Kyle Tucker hits a sacrifice fly to center for the fourth run of the inning. One out.

Update: Yuli Gurriel singles past the shortstop and the Astros lead 5-0.

Update: Two strikeouts end the inning, but the Phillies are in a hole against a very good pitcher.
