The Tigers beat the White Sox 4-1, finishing before the Guardians 10-4 win over Texas. The White Sox loss officially gave Cleveland the AL Central title. The Guardians are now 18-3 since September fifth, the best record in the majors (Yankees are second at 13-4, Astros third at 15-5).

When I visited Cleveland this summer I still saw people wearing lots of Indians gear. If the Guardians go on to win the World Series, I suspect people will be more accepting of the name change. They are the only one of the teams from the sixteen team era to not win a championship in the expansion era.
