Well Pitched Afternoon

Wednesday afternoon featured a number of excellent pitching performances. Ross Stripling of the Blue Jays took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and left the game after 6 1/3 innings with one hit, no walks, seven strikeouts and no runs. His opponent, Austin Voth of the Orioles pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits. The Orioles bullpen didn’t do that well, however, as Toronto wins 6-1.

The Phillies and the Reds played the closest regulation game one can play, with Cincinnati walking off with a 1-0 win. Jose Barrero singled in the winning run. Both staters, Ranger Suarez of the Phillies and Nick Lodolo of the Reds pitched seven shutout innings each striking out eight.

The Twins saw Tyler Mahle leave after seven outs with a fatigued shoulder. The pen came in and also kept the Royals off the board as Minnesota wins 4-0. The Twins will further examine the tired shoulder.
