Best Batter Today

Blow Out Thursday fails to change the top five much on the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals still enjoys a big lead after collecting a single, walk, and home runs in a 4-3 Brewers win.

Mookie Betts of the Dodgers uses a big game to take second place. He goes three for five with a walk and a double in a 14-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. Betts’s game score of 66 was the third best among the Dodgers in the game, with four Dodgers posting scores of 64 or better.

Bryce Harper of the Phillies lands in third place as he singles in four trips in a 4-1 win over the Braves. Aaron Judge of the Yankees batted leadoff against the Rays. He singled and walked for fourth place, New York winning 7-2. Manny Machado and Padres enjoyed a off day, and Machado stays in fifth place.

The best game score of the day goes to Kyle Farmer of the Reds, an 86. He goes four for four with two home runs and five RBI as the Reds pound the Cubs 20-5. Farmer raised his slash line to .250/.303/.403, not great but a bit more respectable for a middle infielder.
