Games of the Day

Joe Musgrove squares off against Carlos Rodon as the Padres face the Giants. Musgrove stands 4-0 with a 2.20 ERA as he improved his control, walking just six batters in 45 innings. Rodon tries to make a correction as he comes off his worst start of the season allowing eight runs in 3 2/3 innings to the Cardinals on May 15th. He had not allowed more than two runs in any of his previous starts.

The Twins send Joe Ryan against the Royals and Brad Keller. Ryan pitched 64 1/3 MLB innings, allowing just 40 hits, good for a 3.08 ERA. He holds opponents to a .212 BABIP, which seems a bit unsustainable. Keller allowed just 35 in 43 2/3 innings, despite low walk and strikeout rates. Eighty percent of batters he faced ended with contract, the fifth highest in the majors among pitchers who faced 100 batters. His defense is doing a good job.
