Games of the Day

The Tigers send rookie Beau Brieske against the Rays and Shane McClanahan. In 21 MLB innings, Brieske limited hits despite poor three-true outcome numbers. He allowed five home runs, ten walks, and struck out just eleven. In the minors, those numbers were excellent, so he may still be able to induce a lot of poor contact as he adjusts to major league hitters. McClanahan allowed five home runs in 39 1/3 innings, but with 58 strikeouts, there is seldom anyone on base to drive in.

The Giants continue their series in Colorado with Alex Cobb taking on Chad Kuhl. Cobb is averaging just four innings a start, despite striking out 28 in 20 1/3 innings. Kuhl owns a 2.88 ERA in six starts, four of those on the road. In his two starts at Coors Field, however, he allowed seven hits in 13 1/3 innings, good for a 2.03 ERA.
