Games of the Day

Joe Musgrove tries to move his record to 5-0 as he faces Kyle Wright in Atlanta. Musgrove owns a 2.08 ERA in six starts, showing tremendous control this season with just three walks in 39 innings pitched. Wright allowed seventeen home runs in 105 2/3 MLB innings, but only two this season in 35 2/3 innings.

Alek Manoah of the Blue Jays takes on Jeffrey Springs of the Rays in an important AL East battle. Manoah also tries for a 5-0 record, posting a 1.75 ERA. He allowed just 23 hits in 36 innings, and for his short career allowed 100 hits in 147 2/3 innings. Springs is more of a swing man than an opener, having pitched 6 2/3 innings in his two starts. All four of the runs he allowed this season came as a starter, however.

The Yankees send Nestor Cortes against the White Sox and Michael Kopech. Cortes pitches, well, but the Yankees do not give him a chance to get in trouble with just 32 innings pitched in six starts. It’s a big reason he is 1-1 despite a 1.41 ERA. Kopech allowed just 15 hits in 29 innings this season, none of them home runs. He gave up nine long balls in 69 1/3 innings during 2021.

Finally, the Sunday night game features Carlos Rodon of the Giants against Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals in St. Louis. Rodon looks like one of the best signings of the off-season as he currently stands 4-1 with a 1.80 ERA. He has yet to allow a home run in 35 innings. Wainwright, at seasonal age 40, still limits power as the opposition slugs just .357 against him.
