Best Batter Today

Manny Machado of the Padres took a commanding lead in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Machado went one for three with walk on Saturday, but the Marlins took the game 8-0. Ty France of the Mariners sits in second place after a one for four in an 8-2 Rays win. Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers moves into third place as he goes four for eight with three doubles and a walk in the doubleheader against the Cubs. Los Angeles sweeps 7-0 and 6-2.

Juan Soto of the Nationals singles in five trips to drop to fourth place, but the Nats play well on both sides of the ball and beat the Angels 7-3 Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals goes two for five with a double for fifth place. The Giants win the slugfest 13-7.

Brandons dominate the daily leaderboard, with Brandon Drury of the Reds and Brandon Lowe of the Rays both posting scores of 80. Drury goes three for four in the night-cap of the double header, knocking out two doubles and a home run, with a walk thrown in for good measure. The Pirates took the game 8-5 for a split on the day. Lowe posted a two for three day with two walks, both hits home runs. Let’s Go Brandons!
