Best Batter Today

For the first time in a very long time, Juan Soto falls out of the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Soto’s one for four in a 5-2 Rockies win is not enough to keep him ahead of the competition.

Ty France of the Mariners holds a slim lead over Manny Machado of the Padres. France went 0 for 4 in a 7-2 Astros win. Machado posted a two for eight day with a home run and two walks in a doubleheader split with the Guardians.

France’s teammate, J.P.Crawford holds third place with a two for four. Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals sits fourth as he draw three walks in a 10-0 win over the Royals. Jose Ramirez of the Guardians drew four walks in the doubleheader for fifth place.

The top two game scores of the day go to Brewers as they beat the Reds 18-4, extending Cincinnati’s miserable record to 3-21. Rowdy Tellez posted a four for six day with a double and two home runs for an 89. Andrew McCutchen turned in a four for five game with a double for a 77. Tellez is not slugging .613 on the season, with twelve of his twenty hits going for extra bases.
