Odd Game Shutouts

Making up for the lost first week of the season due to the CBA negotiations causes teams to play one-game series once in a while. Monday afternoon, the Royals played at the Cardinals before both teams move to Kansas City for a two-game series. The Angels played a wrap-around series with the White Sox, finishing today. Both games ended in shutouts, the Cardinals taking the Missouri game 1-0 on a Paul Goldschmidt home run, while the White Sox won 3-0. In both games, the winning runs were scored in the bottom of the first inning. Dylan Cease struck out 11 batters in seven innings as he did not allow a walk for the Chicago win, and Steven Matz went six shutout innings for the Cardinals, lowering his early season ERA to 4.56. Batter drew only four walks in the two games combined, so I wonder if people were swinging early to get out of town quickly. Both games took about two hours and forty minutes.
