Injury Worries and Realism

Tucker Barnhart  raises injury concerns about trying to cram a lot of games into a short season. Given that there seemed to be a high number of players on the disabled list last season, I’m not sure that a shorter season is going to make things worse. One thing is clear from the article, players are trying to contribute ideas to how to schedule a shortened season.

The article ends with some realism from Barnhart:

“It goes without saying that, as players, we want to play as many games (as possible), not only because we love playing, but also we want to make as much money as possible. That’s the God’s honest truth about it,” he said. “And the same goes with ownership and all of that. So everybody wants to make money.”

I have no problem with 7 inning DHs. Maybe make it a regular Saturday feature (in July and August) so that the normal 162 game schedule can start a bit later.
