Nationals Win

Sean Doolittle retires the Astros in order in the ninth, and Washington wins game one of the World Series by a score of 5-4. Both offenses executed against two great pitchers. The Astros worked counts and took pitches against Max Scherzer, driving him from the game early. The Nationals put the ball in play against Gerrit Cole, and added a three-run inning to two home runs. Cole gets his first lost in his last 20 decisions.

The Nationals bullpen, like Scherzer, bent but did not break. Washington takes home field advantage from Houston with game two tomorrow at 8 PM EDT.
