Weekly Look at Offense

Not much has changed as we near the end of the season. Offense was down a last week, and over the last few weeks scoring oscillated from around nine runs per game to around ten runs per game. Still, this was the highest scoring week 25 of the last five years.

Through 25 weeks, 2019 leads 2018 9.69 runs per game to 8.89 runs per game, or up 0.8 runs. Once again it’s all due to home runs up 0.5 per game, while walks and other hits are right in line with last year. I’ll repeat, the big story of the year is that increased strikeouts did not depress offense, and especially did not depress non-home run hits.
