The Yankees lead the Rays by 1/2 game as the AL East leaders open a series in the Bronx. Yonny Chirinos faces Masahiro Tanaka. Chirinos faces the Yankees for the third time this season, and so far allowed two runs in 8 2/3 innings, with just one walk issued. Tanaka pitched even better against the Rays this year, with 13 K and no walks in 13 innings.

The Astros visit Cincinnati with Wade Miley taking on Luis Castillo. Miley pitched about the same number of innings as last year, 80 1/3 in 2019 versus 80 2/3 in 2018. His ERA is up a bit as he allowed 12 home runs this year versus three last year. Castillo is working on a streak of 12 straight starts without a loss, posting a 2.35 ERA in that stretch.
