Weekly Look at Offense

The offensive trends in the majors continued this week. Through seven full weeks of the season, comparing 2019 to 2018, MLB games produced 9.20 runs per game versus 8.88 in 2018. That increase of 0.3 runs per game is due to home runs, which are up from 2.3 HR per game to 2.6 HR per game. Walks remain the same, but other hits are down 0.5 per game, from 14.5 per game to 14.0 per game. The whole feel that baseball is becoming a three-true outcome came continues.

For the week run scoring was right on the average for the year at 9.18 per game.
