Random Player Report

The Random Evil Player program selected Christian Bergman for the next review. Bergman pitched for the Mariners in 2017 after three seasons with the Rockies. He is a bit of a swing man, as he started 23 of his 68 games pitched. He recently signed a minor league deal to stay with Seattle.

Bergman does on thing well, and that is limit walks. For his career he averaged just 2.1 walks per nine innings pitched. He does not strike out many batters, however, just 5.5 per nine innings. That led to him allowing a high number of hits, a lot of them long hits. His opposition slash line stands at .313/.351/.530. Pitching in Colorado didn’t matter that much as he road slash line comes in at .325/.362/.552. His strength in walks is just not enough to make up for his other weaknesses.
