Random Player Report

The Random Evil Player program selected Tim Beckham for the latest review. Beckham plays the middle infield, currently for the Baltimore Orioles. He came up with the Rays, a first round pick out of high school in 2008. He came up late, getting a cup of coffee in 2013, then not playing in the majors again until 2015, his rookie year. He tore his ACL in 2014, which set his career back a season.

Beckham hit like a middle infielder with the Rays, posting a .247/.299/.421 slash line. He brought some pop to the plate, but ate up outs. In his 230 PA after being traded to the Orioles, he blossomed, hitting .306/.348/.523. Those numbers are great from any position, but especially good for a middle infielder.

Camden Yards did help, but not with power. Beckham’s BA and OBP exploded at his new park. He will be the Orioles shortstop in 2018, and if he can keep 50% of his improvement, he will be a solid player for Baltimore.
