Dodgers Take Control

The Dodgers beat the Cubs 6-1 on Tuesday night to take a 3-0 lead in the NLCS. Los Angeles pitching continues to shut down the Cubs offense. Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Kyle Schwarber are the leading hitters on the Cubs, but they are a combined 5 for 28 with a home run, a run, an RBI and two walks in the series.

Dave Roberts does not seem to have a consistent policy when it comes to pinch hitting for his starter. He pinch hit for Clayton Kershaw in game one in the fifth inning with the game tied, two out, and and a man on second, despite Kershaw pitching well. In game three, he allowed Yu Darvish to bat with a two-run lead in the sixth, two out, and the bases loaded. Darvish walked and went on to record four more outs.

The Cubs did try to mount a comeback in the ninth inning. They put men on second and third with no one out. Kenley Jansen entered at that point, and stranded both runners with a pop out and two Ks. Jansen appears in all six games the Dodgers played this post-season, and in seven innings allowed two hits and a walk, an unearned run, and struck out 12 batters.

The Dodgers appear to be going for the 11-0 post-season.
