Brad Ausmus is not interested in the bench job in Flushing. Robin Ventura has not shown interest.
I don’t blame them. The team is old in many ways, and it seems the star players are easily injured. I suspect Ausmus and Ventura don’t want to rebuild, they want a team ready to win.
May have to reach down into the minors.
They’re not old….they may not be GOOD, but they’re not old. The only guy over 30 slotted to play a significant role is Blevins. DeGrom is 29, he’s the oldest starter. Reyes and Cabrera are the only infielders over 30 and hopefully neither will be starters. Rosario, Conforto, Syndergaard and Smith are all under 25. Where do you get “old in many ways”?
Tom Morgan » Cespedes will be seasonal age 32 in 2018. David Wright is still talking about playing. I hope they go younger, but this certainly was an old team in 2017.
