The main culprits are home runs and walks, both up significantly. Batters hit 462 more home runs this year through 25 weeks than in 2016, 18.5 more per week.

Runs per game dropped to 8.65 last week, and that is consistent with drops at this time of year in previous seasons. That’s the lowest scoring week since week eight.
