Games of the Day

The Yankees travel to Boston trailing the Red Sox by four games in the AL East. Jordan Montgomery faces Drew Pomeranz in the first of three games. Montgomery made two starts against Boston, trading hits for walks. The Red Sox have a .222 BA against him, with a .333 OBP. Pomeranz is 6-0 in his last 11 starts, posting a 2.42 ERA in that time thanks to just five home runs allowed in 67 innings.

The Diamondbacks go from the desert to the land of lakes to take on the Twins. Zack Godley opposes Ervin Santana. Godley owns a 5-5 record despite a 2.95 ERA. He started seven games in which the DBacks scored three runs or less. Santana pitched well against NL teams this season, 2-1 with a 3.11 ERA, walking just seven in 37 2/3 innings.

Finally, the Nationals take on the Padres with Max Scherzer facing Luis Perdomo. Scherzer managed to take advantage of Clayton Kershaw‘s time on the disabled list to move into first place in the NL in Tom Tango Cy Young Tracker points. Perdomo is still trying to become the first pitcher since the 1950s to hit four triples in a season.
