Games of the Day

Dylan Bundy tries to halt the Orioles decline as he faces the Rays and Jacob Faria. The Orioles tied a major league record Friday night as they allowed five runs or more in their twentieth straight game. Orioles starters posted a 9.45 ERA in that span, with the double whammy of walking a ton of batters and allowing a high number of home runs. Faria is off to a great start in his major league career, winning his first three starts with a 1.37 ERA. He struck out 22 in 19 2/3 innings with just four walks and no home runs allowed.

The home-road inversion continues as the Twins beat the Indians 5-0 Friday night in Cleveland. The Indians lead the season series 8-3, 7-0 in Minnesota, 1-3 at home. Kyle Gibson takes on Corey Kluber. Gibson lives up to the split, 1-4 at home, 3-1 on the road, but with poor ERAs in both settings. Kluber is just good, with 80 K and 17 walks in 65 1/3 innings holding opponents to a .277 OBP.

Lance McCullers returns to the mound after a short rest of the disabled list as the Astros battle the Mariners and Sam Gaviglio. McCullers is tough against left-handed hitters in terms of power. He holds them to a .290 slugging percentage this season. Gaviglio owns a 3.43 ERA despite allowing nine home runs in 39 1/3 innings. Five of the 20 runs against him were unearned.

Tyler Chatwood tries to reverse the Rockies woes, getting a tough assignment against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers. Chatwood walks a ton of batters, but most of those come at home. He’s managed a 2.19 ERA on the road this season. Kershaw is still pitching like an ace, but he is susceptible to power this season. The .385 slugging percentage against him is his highest in a season since his rookie year of 2008.

Enjoy!
