Low Game Score Night

There are some starting pitchers getting hammered Tuesday night. Zack Eflin of the Phillies allowed the Rockies seven runs through five innings already and his game score stands at 24 at the moment. Christian Bergman only lasted four innings for the Mariners against the Nationals, allowing ten runs. He finishes with a -8 game score. Jhoulys Chacin of the Padres lasted just 2/3 of an inning, allowing seven runs to the Mets. His game score came in at 8.

The night is still young.

Update: Amir Garrett of the Reds turns in a 26 as he allows the Indians seven runs in five innings.

This is neither here nor there, but whenever I look at box scores in the At Bat app, they’ve got the pitcher’s game score wrong. I haven’t yet figured out how they’re doing it (because it doesn’t matter that much to me), but I was starting to doubt my recollection of the formula. For instance, they have Chacin at 1, not 8.

Just thought I’d mention it. Curious whether you’d seen this, or heard anything about it.

Scooter » Tom Tango came up with a new version of the game score this year. Since he works for MLB, they might be using his.
