Effortless Home Run

Daniel Murphy puts the Mets down 4-0 with a grand slam in the first inning. The homer was a good example of how a technically good swing can send a pitch a long way. Murphy didn’t look like he swung hard, but he got the bat onto the plane of the low pitch, golfed it a bit to get the launch angle, and drove it over the fence in the rightfield power alley. There was nothing cheap about the shot. It was a smooth, strong swing with a perfect follow through, and the Nationals lead the Mets 4-0 in the middle of the first inning.
