Bottom of the Eighth

The Indians come up in the bottom of the eighth with the Cubs leading 6-3. The Indians have six outs to score three runs. Jon Lester has gone 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. Aroldis Chapman is warmed up in the bullpen.

Update: With two out, Jose Ramirez singles off Lester. In a game where a pitcher is not allowed to make a mistake, Lester is out of the game. Aroldis Chapman comes in for the four-out save.

Update: Brandon Guyer works the count full, and lines a double into the right-center gap. Ramirez scores and the Cubs lead is down to 6-4.

Update: Rajai Davis, choking up on the bat, lines a two-run homer just over the fence, and just inside the foul pole in left. The Indians tie the game at 6! It’s a no-out blown save for Chapman.

Update: Coco Crisp follows with a single.

Update: Yan Gomes gets ahead 2-0. Chapman works the count even. Gomes swings and misses to end the inning, but it’s a new ball game. The Cubs and Indians go to the ninth tied at six.
