Threat in the Third

A walk, a fly out, and a single put runners on first and second for the Cubs in the top of the third. Putting Kyle Schwarber in the second slot worked there, as he worked a walk from Josh Tomlin, a pitcher known for being stingy with free passes. Kris Bryant‘s fly ball was interesting, as Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall miscommunicated again, Chisenhall making the catch this time.

Ben Zobrist follows the Anthony Rizzo single with a single of his own, and the Cubs have the bases loaded with one out. Josh Tomlin is out of the game. He gave up six hits and walk in 2 1/3 innings, and did not record a strikeout.

Update: Dan Otero comes on in relief for Cleveland.

Update: Addison Russell hits a grand slam off Otero, and the Cubs lead 7-0! Otero allowed just two home runs during the regular season in 70 2/3 innings.

Update: Otero gets the next two outs to end the inning, but the damage is done. The Cubs lead the Indians 7-0 in the middle of the third inning.
