Boxscore Anniversary

The first boxscore appeared on this date in 1845.

I wrote the first real time online boxscore generator for STATS, Inc. back in the early 1990s. They worked on a 25×80 display, the lineups side by side as in newspaper, but with BB and K columns, as well as updated slash line averages for the batters and ERA for the pitchers. The information section under the batters reported the usual extra base hits and left on base, but also team RISP and batters advanced. They were gorgeous.

Thanks to Baseball Reference, today we get even more information.
