The Bullpen Game

The Indians beat the Blue Jays 4-2 thanks to great pitching from the Cleveland bullpen. Trevor Bauer tried to pitch, but the stitches in his pinky broke after two outs on four batters. The bullpen had to pitch 8 1/3 innings, and did so very well. Six relievers combined to allow seven hits, one a solo home run, one walk, while striking out eight.

The Indians continue to use their relievers in unusual ways, bringing in closer Cody Allen in the seventh, and saving Andrew Miller for the four-out save.

It’s a great win for the Indians, who now have an excellent chance to advance to the World Series for the first time since 1997.
