Threat in the Eighth

The Dodgers put their first two batters on in the eighth inning against the Cubs, Los Angeles trailing 3-1. Pinch hitters Andrew Toles and Chase Utley singled and walked respectively. Pedro Strop is on the mound for the Cubs.

Update: Justin Turner grounds to Kris Bryant behind the third base bag. Bryant had to move toward the outfield to field the ball, and he could not beat Toles to the bag, and fails to get the force. That loads the bases with no one out, and the Cubs bring Aroldis Chapman into the game.

Update: Chapman strikes out Corey Seager. One down.

Update: Yasiel Puig strikes out, although he did foul off some pitches.

Update: Adrian Gonzalez lines a 102 MPH pitch up the middle for a single, and two runs score. Dexter Fowler bobbles the ball, and that puts runners on first and third. The Dodgers come through and tie the game at three.

Update: Gonzalez steals second uncontested as Yasmani Grandal bats.

Update: Grandal grounds out to shortstop. It’s a new ballgame, as the Cubs come to bat in the bottom of the eighth tied at three.

Gonzalez was 0 for 4 against Gonzalez during this career in the regular season.
