Jason Heyward triples, and Javier Baez follows with a double to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead over the Dodgers in the bottom of the second inning. Three of the four Cubs hits tonight went for extra bases.
Update: Baez moves to third on a wild pitch, then steals home on a mistake. He wandered too far down the line on a pitch, and the Dodgers catcher, Carlos Ruiz threw to third to pick him off. Baez saw the throw coming, and headed home ahead of the return throw. Everything going right for the Cubs early as they lead the Dodgers 3-0.
Update: Jon Lester walks in the bottom of the fourth inning. He’s walked in both his plate appearances in the game, so the Cubs are even getting offense from their starting pitcher.
In the regular season, Lester has 10 hits and 10 walks for his career, so for a pitcher, he has a good eye.
It has to be the Cubs year, doesn’t it?
