Playoffs Today

The Blue Jays try to earn a split with the Indians as J.A. Happ faces Josh Tomlin. Happ pitched well after the All-Star break with a 2.94 ERA, carrying him to an 8-1 record. He pitched five strong innings against the Rangers in the LDS, allowing one run and striking out five. In his one start against Cleveland this year he struck out 11 batters in seven innings without issuing a walk. Tomlin pitched five innings in the LDS, striking out four Red Sox batters. That was a high total for him, as he tends to allow the ball to be put in play. In two starts against the Blue Jays this year he allowed four home runs in 10 1/3 innings.

Kenta Maeda takes the mound for the Dodgers against Jon Lester and the Cubs as the NLCS opens in Chicago. Maeda got hit around by the Nationals in the LDS. They scored four runs in three innings on five hits and two walks. Maeda showed much better control during the regular season. This will be Maeda’s first time facing the Cubs. Lester’s post-season career is full of success. His three-true outcome numbers are great, and his ERA stands at 2.63. He owns a 7-6 record, however. He pitched a few bad games, but he is often matched with another ace.

Enjoy!
