Justin Turner was the pivotal offensive player for the Dodgers in the NLDS. He reached back 13 times in the five games, with six hits, five walks, and two hit by pitch. With no one on he set the plate with a .562 OBP. Both his extra base hits came with men on, the homer and triple clearing the bases. His 13 pitch plate appearance against Max Scherzer in game five helped drive up Scherzer’s pitch count, and his triple gave the Dodgers the insurance runs they needed. An impressive performance by a late bloomer, as Turner did not find himself as a hitter until he joined the Dodgers in 2014 at seasonal age 29.
How the heck did he get so good? Not just throughout the season but in big series. He KILLED the Mets last October.
