The Padres got rid of James Shields just in time. Shields made his third start for the White Sox Saturday afternoon, and allowed the Indians eight runs in 1 2/3 innings to raise his Chicago ERA to 21.81! He allowed 22 runs, 21 earned, in 8 2/3 innings. He walked nine and allowed 24 hits. If he’s not hurt, I don’t see how the White Sox can continue to use him in the rotation. The Indians lead 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
Gotta be hurt. And at this point in the season everyone has something hurting. DL for “arm fatigue.” Yes, playing hurt is admirable, but not if you’re costing your team.
