Games of the Day

Patrick Corbin and Gerrit Cole square off in a lunch-time special as the Diamondbacks finish their series with the Pirates. Corbin allowed nine home runs in 85 innings in 2015, and has already allowed nine dingers in56 1/3 innings this season. Cole stands 5-3 overall, but just 1-2 in Pittsburgh with a 4.08 ERA. The 20 hits he allowed in 17 2/3 innings is the main culprit, likely due to a lower strikeout rate.

Jose Fernandez takes on Drew Smyly as the Marlins and Rays finish the battle of Florida. Fernandez blows away batters with 78 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. Smyly tries to finish May on a high note. He owns a 5.06 ERA in the month after posting a 2.60 ERA in April.

Finally, it’s the battle of initials as J.A. Happ and CC Sabathia lead the Blue Jays and Yankees in an AL East tilt. Happ holds the opposition to a .208/.283/.344 slash line on the road this season. Sabathia, despite his troubles, owns a good 3.41 ERA this year. He allowed just one home run in 34 1/3 innings after giving up 28 in 167 1/3 innings in 2015.
