Lincecum Throws

John Shea provides video of Tim Lincecum throwing on Friday, which sounds like someone put a microphone in the catcher’s glove.

He threw about 40 total pitches, topping out at 92 miles per hour with most hitting 91 mph.

How did he look? Lincecum showed good break on his curveball and also threw his slider, cutter and changeup.

Chris Lincecum, Tim’s father, told The Chronicle before the showcase began that his son was comfortable with his full repertoire, including his slider and cutter, and the breaking ball “is the best I’ve seen it.”

The Angels should be a suitor, since Garrett Richards probably needs Tommy John surgery. The Angels starters were already near the bottom of the AL in average game score, so losing their best pitcher for the rest of the year leaves a black hole in the rotation.

I’d love to see the Mets sign him, if only to help the young staff know how to stay good. He’d make a good long reliever & spot starter in that rotation too, which would keep the young arms fresh for any post season games.
