Slugging Cubs

The Cubs hit .242 as a team against the Cardinals, but 13 of their 30 hits went for extra bases, good for a .532 slugging percentage. The hits they recorded moved runners a long distance.

On the other side of the ball, the Cardinals hitters were hurt by their strikeouts. They went down on strikes 15 times on Tuesday, 48 times in 133 at bats for the series. That’s a big reason they hit just .211 for the series.

The Cubs now await the outcome of the Mets versus the Dodgers. I’m hoping for a Mets-Cubs NLCS, it could be a replay of the 1969 season. 🙂
