Power Day

Monday was an interesting day in the playoffs. The Mets finished the day by beating the Dodgers 13-7, and like the three previous game, the team trailing big mounted a late comeback. Of those, only the Royals succeeded in overcoming the lead.

The day was also marked by a high number of home runs, six at Houston, eight in Chicago, and 21 overall. The Day by Day Database goes back to 2002 for the playoffs, and that was the highest average of any playoff day with at least three games played in that time. (There have been 37 such days.) That seems appropriate, as offense in 2015 was centered around the home run.

Second on the list was Oct. 4, 2007, that featured 4.33 HR/Game.
