The Opposite Message

The Hooton Foundation was taken in by a group that sells steroids.

I'm sorry that hi son died....but lexapro was the most likely cause - not steroids. It has a black box warning for use by teenagers due to potential for increased potential for suicide.

Same with Caminiti (alcohol and drugs) , Alzado (who knows what he did, but doctors have said that his tumor was not steroids-related).

I am also surprised Hooton endorses the current punishment program which removes employee assistance and goes directly to suspension. I thought going cols turkey on steroids was the reason for his son's death.

Heartfelt stories do not help create good public policy - but it does help generate publicity and funds for his not-for-profit. Let's go back to the drawing board and re-vamp the entire program for drug detection in sports.

I tried to look up their 990's (federal tax forms) but the last one covers 2005. I would like to see the more recent versions and the foundation's performance.
