Older Prospect

It turns out one of the gems of the Washington farm system used a phony name and is four years older than believed:

According to a report on SI.com from Melissa Seguar, the shortstop once known as Esmailyn "Smiley" Gonzalez has falsified his name and age. His true identity: Carlos Alvarez Daniel Lugo. His true age: 23, or four years older than the Nationals believed. According to current data, the Nationals list Gonzalez's birthday as Sept. 21, 1989.

Do the Nationals send him packing and ask for their money back? Or do they look at him as someone who might be ready to help them sooner than they thought?

Question: Is fraud like this, on the part of the player, worse than steroid use before it was banned or banned with strong sanctions?

Between this sort of thing and OTC steroids, me thinks DR needs to start cleaning up its act. I can understand someone doing all he could to escape a third world country's poverty to get rich playing baseball in America, but I can't condone it.
