They Like Rickey at ESPN

The eleven voting members working at ESPN all voted for Rickey Henderson. If this group is representative, Jim Rice will get in and the vote will be very close on Bert Blyleven. Andre Dawson is rates highly as well. I still don't understand how someone votes for Dawson but not for his teammate Tim Raines.

Mark McGwire splits this group, getting five votes. We'll see if that's a trend across the voting. If McGwire rises to close to 50%, he might actually get elected in a few years.

Pedro Gomez. What can we say about him? He votes for JAY BELL and not Tim Raines.

I don't even know a word to descibe how asinine that is.

I didn't expect much from Pedro, but I'm awfully disappointed in Buster Olney. How can anyone vote for Morris and not Blyleven is inconceivable. If you believe in a big HoF then voting for both is understandable. If you are a small Hall kind of guy then deciding that Bert falls short of the Tom Seaver level then that is understandable. However, voting for Morris and not voting for the much better candidate (Bert) is nonsensical. Somebody needs to buy Olney and friends a baseball encyclopedia or show them how to turn on a computer and lead them by hand to Baseball-reference.com.

All Pedro Gomez knows about baseball is what he learned from going through Barry Bonds trash for all those years he was stalking him.

The same way that people vote for Jim Rice but not Dwight Evans. Or Jim Rice and not Andre Dawson.
