Nick Willhite Passes
Nick Willhite died Sunday. His life after baseball was a rough one that at least ended well:
Willhite bounced around from one job to another, working as a pitching coach at Brigham Young University and in the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees organizations.
Divorced three times and living on the streets of Salt Lake City as a drug and alcohol addict, he reached out to another former Dodger pitcher, Stan Williams. Williams put him in touch with the Baseball Assistance Team, which helps former baseball players in need. Willhite entered a treatment center in 1989 and eventually became an addictions counselor.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I met Nick in the beginning of 2003. Though he had been divorced from my mother-in-law and wasn't my husband's biological father he still felt like family to me. Seeing him at family get togethers was always nice. He always seemed interested in what was going on in our lives. Family was very important to him and I know that he was grateful to still have them in his life! Although he had his struggles, he was still a good man. We will miss Nick and his tender loving heart he always brought with him and his stories will live forever! We love you Nick and I am so thankful to have you a part of my life and my family!
Thank you!
