Back to the Bench
The Brewers hire Willie Randolph as their bench coach. It's not managing, but it's close. Randolph may turn out to a person who is better off coaching than managing. Given how things went down with the Mets, he might not have the people skills for the top job.

Bench coach, or replacement manager kept conveniently close at hand? Anyway, Randolph strikes this Mets fan as an odd choice for bench coach, since he doesn't seem like much of a strategist, especially when it comes to use of relievers.
Could be a nice breather until another chance comes along. Many first time managers (or head coaches in football) over think things trying to avoid screwing up. Second go around they sometimes manage to learn their lesson.
Second Steve's sentiment, I'm not sure he has anything to add in that role.
