Was Kazmir Ill?

Monday night I though Kazmir looked ill. That indeed may have been the case:

The stakes were far higher Monday, and Kazmir seemed as mystified as his manager and everyone else after his ERA shot from 2.99 to 3.50. He said his body felt "weak" and wasn't responding as it should have, as if he had jet lag.

"I mean, what else could go wrong in that game?" Kazmir said. "I just don't want to have any of those experiences ever again."

It was an inopportune time for a bug. After the 13-5 Red Sox victory, Tampa Bay and Boston are tied in the games back column.

Correction: I meant games back column, not loss column. Tampa leads by one in the AFILC.

I'm convinced he's going to have Tommy John sooner than later. He strained his UCL earlier this season, which is by definition an tiny tear. Since his return, he's been okay most of the time, but his command (often more indicative of injury than velocity, but not always) has been really inconsistent. Another warning sign is the fact that he uses his slider, which was his best pitch, very sparingly. It also doesn't have the same bite, or depth that it has had in years past, which suggests to me that he's either protecting his elbow, or he just physically snap the pitch off like he has in the past.

None of the "no excuses" from this guy - MLB should force TB to either build a stadium or move. If you hit the third catwalk it's a HR in fair territory but if you hit the second one it's in play. That's like when playing HR Derby at the park. Over the backstop is an HR, overhang 3B, 2nd panel 2B.

Actually not tied in loss column.... Tied in standings.

Yea, Kazmir wasn't feeling well it seems. The first symptoms are the heebee-jeebee'z...usually in combination with anxiety and cold sweats. Paranoia sets in if not treated in August - the kind of paranoia that makes you feel as if someone is right behind you. Kazmir was sick to his stomach, I'm sure. It's called September Pennant Race - itis.
My cousin likes to call it "tight ass". After tonight the Red Sox should be in first place. If I were Kazmir, I'd be sick too. All that time in first place this year playing some really good ball, only to have September roll around and turn the Rays yellow before the leaves change color. Hang in there Tampa...er e-hem Kaz. First thing you have to do is see your manager about a routine GUT CHECK. Then just go out and play ball. The Sox have been around that block a few times. It's tough being the new guy trying to prove you belong.

In all seriousness...I hope Scott Kazmir is well.
